The Tide May ***FINALLY*** Be Turning

Did you know that since 1965 the Republicans have been in power for 28 years and the Democrats have been in power for 25 years.  Over the 28 years that the Republicans were in power, they were indicted 120 times, convicted 89 times and sentenced to prison 34 times.  Over the 25 years the Democrats have had power they've had 3 indictments, 1 conviction and 1 prison sentence. 

So it should come as a shock and a surprise to precisely no one that Donald J. Trump has now been credibly accused of demanding that metal detectors be removed from the entry point to where his speech was going to take place on January 6, 2021.  He even told staff, "I don't care that they're armed, they're not here to hurt me."  The implications of this cannot be understated.  If this information is corroborated by subsequent sworn testimony then it will prove beyond any reasonable doubt that the president knew the crowd was armed with guns, rifles, swords, spears, knives, bear spray, pepper spray, zip ties, etc. but he just didn't care because he already knew they were coming and that they'd be armed.  This was all planned in a DC hotel room that Mark Meadows wanted to go to on January 6th but his personal assistant, Cassidy Hutchinson, talked him out of going and he ended up "calling in" according to Meadows own words.  This meeting that he was calling into was nothing short of the command center for the coup plot that was being executed by extremist groups like the Proud Boys, The Oath Keepers, the Three Percenters, Nationalist Social Club, NSC-131, No White Guilt, Boogaloo, Rise Above Nation, QAnon, 

Did these groups exist before Donald Trump?  Yes, of course they did.  They've all been around for quite some time (all except for NSC-131, which is quite new) but with the election of a blatantly obvious racist to the presidency, all of these extremist groups have suddenly grown brass balls because they know they've got a fellow, committed racist looking out for them from The White House.  

All of this shit is pretty scary.  Especially when I think about the possibility that Trump will run again or the even more horrendous possibility that there may actually be enough racist fucking assholes in this country to get Trump elected to a 2nd term and if that happens I'm not usually the one to say "The Sky Is Falling!" but I'm telling you right now if Donald Trump is elected President of the United States again in 2024 it very well may spell the end of democracy as we know it.

Yes, this post is quite doomy and gloomy but I would rather face the facts than stick my head in the sand. Look around you.  A little less than half of the people around you voted for Trump and would vote for him again if he ran.  That's the country we live in.  We need to start recognizing that the United States is a very, very racist country.  And that racism is part of our DNA and you can trace it all the way back to the colonies in the 1600's.  

Until the United States of America recognizes and admits to the wrongdoing of slavery and what we did to the native people of North America when we came here, this conflict between us will go unresolved.  And as Abraham Lincoln famously said, "A house divided among itself cannot stand."

Basically, we're fucked.
